Do you want to make an impact and be a catalyst for change? Become a Trustee at the Milton Keynes Homelessness Partnership
We are ambitious and we need Trustees who are too. We want you to help us drive change and see an end to homelessness in Milton Keynes.
Now in our 3rd year, the Milton Keynes Homelessness Partnership (MKHP) is seeking new trustees with specialist skills to take us to the next stage of our journey.
We are a network of organisations who connect to prevent and end homelessness in Milton Keynes. We encourage, facilitate, and incubate innovative ideas, promote open exchange of good practice, promote collaboration, are insight led and have a solution-based approach.
Our philosophy starts with a person-centred approach, from medical wellbeing through to better and truly affordable homes. Homelessness is many things. It’s sofa surfing. It’s living in temporary or emergency housing. It’s living in your car. You don’t have to be on the streets to feel unprotected or unwelcome.
We work to elevate the voices of people with lived experience and embed a truly co-production approach to services in Milton Keynes. We encourage diversity of thought and practice and want our Trustee Board to represent Milton Keynes and all its unique facets.
Our Trustee Board is a group of industry leaders who come together 4- 6 times per year and who lend their expertise to the sub-Committees. We have a small expert staff team who need a board who can inform, guide, and support the charity’s development and sustainability as we probe and seek solutions to some challenging and complex issues.
The Roles
We are seeking up to 6 Trustees, to strengthen the current expertise as well as bring in new skills to support succession planning as some trustees step down. We are keen to attract trustees with at least two of the following specialist areas of expertise:
✓ Business Development and Income Generation
✓ Corporate and business sector
✓ Financial Management (eg. Accountant or Snr. Financial Director)
✓ Health
✓ Homelessness in its widest sense
✓ Marketing, Communications and Public Relations
✓ Planning, Housing and Property
✓ Public Affairs and Policy
✓ Research and Insight
If you are a passionate, committed individual who is an expert in your own area, understands the complexities of the environment within which operate and want to roll up your sleeves and help us achieve change, then we want to hear from you. We expect a real commitment and appetite for doing things differently. We expect each Trustee to champion the voice of people with lived experience and embrace equality, diversity, and inclusion.
If this sounds like you then get in touch. We are particularly interested in hearing from professionals with lived experience of homelessness in whatever form that might take. Candidates living in the Milton Keynes area, or with a connection to Milton Keynes, are encouraged, although we are open to applicants from across the UK who can attend meetings in Milton Keynes where required.
To apply, send your CV and a covering letter (letter no more than two A4 pages), outlining how you meet the person specification and your motivation for applying. Please make clear which specialist skill(s) you believe you will be able to contribute. Read the full recruitment pack here.
Send your application to recruitment@mkhp.co.uk clearly marked ‘Trustee Recruitment’.
Applicants are asked to complete the Diversity Monitoring Form here and send with their application. This does not form part of the shortlisting or interview process but will help us to monitor and continually improve our reach, engagement and recruitment processes.
Deadline for applications is 12 noon on Friday 1st December 2023.
Interviews will be held via zoom in December 2023 and January 2024. Dates to be confirmed.
New Trustees will be appointed by the end of January 2024.
